Oh Jade… I’m so sorry. What I would have done to go back in time and grab that key card from you. Burn it in the oven or chop it up into a thousand pieces. Everything changed when you went into that mansion. Jade never came home.

“Get out from under there, the fucking thiens are coming, you idiot!”

Like a vacuum being turned on Kerres found himself getting shot back into reality, a reality he wanted to only run from. Burrow his head in the sand until it all went away, until this nightmare disappeared from what used to be a good life. This wasn’t how it was suppose to turn out, they were suppose to be together forever. How did this happen? How did I let it get to this?

The Morosian boy had his hands wrapped around his head, pressing against the base of his skull as if wanting to force what had just happened out of his memories. He didn’t know how long he had been staring at that stained white wall, for all he knew the man could’ve been calling him for hours.

It couldn’t be real, no this couldn’t have just happened… I had to save Jade.

That fucking demon chimera took my Jade, just like Elish took him. He was mine, he was my boy, not theirs. I have to protect him, even if in the end I might be protecting him from himself.

“Kerres!?” Milos barked, grabbing onto the boy’s shoulder and yanking him out from under the table.

The crimson-haired man looked up at Milos, his eyes widened as he saw the thick open wound on his neck, weeping blood freely onto the carpet underneath their feet. His entire body looked bruised and beaten but his stamina was the strongest Kerres had ever seen. He was still standing tall, acting like the giant gouge on his neck was nothing more than a paper cut.

“What about Tate?” Kerres rose before his head snapped to the left, he could hear hurried voices coming from the stairwell of the apartment. Before he could even process what was happening Milos was pushing him towards the sliding glass door.

“Tate ran during the gunfire, he’s getting backup, come on, we need to get to Garrett Park.” Kerres noticed for the first time that Milos had a radio in his hand, like everything around them it was slicked in blood; the entire apartment smelled like gun powder and blood. It was a war zone… so many dead bodies. All of them mangled messes of shredded skin, bone and so much blood. The demon chimera had done his job on the Crimstones.

And Jade is one of them.

No, he’s my baby.

The next thing the Morosian knew they were closing the iron gate and running towards the park where Jade’s mother had used to stay.
